Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly comes from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's law practice is centered around family law. She has a passion for it. She focuses the majority of her work on divorce cases, alimony disputes, the distribution of marital property and child custody battles. child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement issues such as step-parent or private party adoptions, as well as issues involving children's welfare. Ashley has been as a mediator appointed by a court since the year, assisting parties in helping them resolve their matters without needing to litigate or court involvement. Ashley mediates private matters as well as court-appointed mediations for people who wish to avoid the court process and litigation.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She then pursued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was an Editor of the Notes at the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This demonstrated her commitment to legal research and scholarship.
Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship journey, working for notable jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She had the pleasure of serving as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned to her hometown of Hagerstown to be a clerk for Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, further enhancing her knowledge of the local legal landscape. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. The primary goal of the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters involving child welfare. Through her dedication, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who had suffered neglect or abuse at the from their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to fighting social injustice went beyond her legal profession as she was a member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to raise awareness about human trafficking within the tri-state region.
In 2017, she was a founding partner at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and began her practice in family law, including custody, divorce guardianships, child maintenance and divorce and financial and estate planning - wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies and mediation.
Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC, 2023, with the intention of providing a customized approach to each client's needs.
