Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly hails from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's practice in law is focused on family law. She has a love for it. She focuses a majority of her practice in divorce cases, alimony disputes property distribution in marital relationships and child custody battles. child support arrangements, postnuptial and prenuptial agreements, enforcement and post-divorce issues such as step-parent or private party adoptions, as well as issues involving children's welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning matters, including probate, wills, trusts, and estate administration, along with commercial contracts, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019. She assists parties in resolving their disputes without the need for litigation or court involvement. Ashley mediates private matters and also court-appointed mediations for people who want to avoid litigation and court processes.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. Then, she pursued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was a Note Editor at the Western New England Law Review during her time in law school. This proved her dedication to legal research and scholarship.
After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship experience, working for notable jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate to serve as a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. Then, in 2014, she returned to her home town of Hagerstown to clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, increasing her knowledge of the local legal landscape. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. The primary role she played at the firm involved representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases involving child welfare. Ashley's devoted efforts were instrumental in helping children who were victims of abuse or negligence at the hands their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social justice extended beyond the realm of law as she actively served as an officer of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force working tirelessly to increase awareness of human trafficking in the tri-state region.
In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the areas of family law - divorce, custody, child support and guardianships - as well as estate planning - wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxy and mediation.
Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC, in 2023, with the goal of providing a personalized approach to every client's requirements.
